The Center for Microbial Oceanography: Research and Education (C-MORE) was a NSF funded program (2006-2016) based in Hawaii. As part of their education outreach, the C-MORE team developed these excellent outreach kits that offer lesson plans and materials for hands-on science activities in a self-contained format. They are designed for use with a range of grade levels. Each kit provides the information and supplies necessary for educators to teach their students about a particular topic in oceanography. These easy to use kits are a great resource for any classroom and can be borrowed for short periods of time – you are responsible for arranging both pickup and drop-off of the kits.
The kits are currently available from locations in Hawaii and MBARI. With the end of the C-MORE funding, the STEM Pre-Academy at University of Hawaii has agreed to take over the science kit website. You can learn more about the Pre-Academy and the science kits on their website as well as check kit availability and reserve a kit.
For more information about borrowing C-MORE science kits from MBARI, please email George Matsumoto. To request a kit, please use the online request form.
