Kevin is a Software Engineer in the Information Engineering group. His background is in probabilistic robotics, machine learning in the cloud, and full-stack software development. Kevin has a passion for developing and supporting intelligent robotic systems for scientific pursuits, and he currently serves as the administrator for FathomNet.

At MBARI, Kevin has worked on:

  • Annotation + image localization applications within the VARS ecosystem
  • Machine learning dataset extraction, transformation, and introspection tools
  • Cloud training and deployment of deep learning models for multiple-object detection and tracking in benthic video
  • Autonomous long-duration and exploratory visual tracking of midwater animals with underwater robots
  • 3D reconstruction of underwater targets from plenoptic imagery
