Aaron joined MBARI as a Mechanical Technician in 2018 and is now an Associate Engineer. His duties are to provide support in the design, development and implementation of hardware for science, engineering and operations using skills developed from working in a variety of educational, manufacturing, and construction industries. Aaron Holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from San Francisco State University which puts him in a unique position to design, fabricate, and use the iterative process that is necessary with engineering projects that can withstand the rigors of the ocean environment.

Aaron is also a returning intern who developed a recovery device that has since been used successfully on numerous MBARI deployments and recoveries. The recovery device was noticed and licensed for use by the U.S. Navy.
