The MLML/MBARI Research Library is the joint library for MBARI and Moss Landing Marine Laboratories (MLML). This library supports the research and educational needs of staff and students at both institutions.
To access resources and for more information, please visit the library’s website:

The MLML/MBARI Research Library develops collections, facilitates access to information resources, and provides research assistance to support the research and educational missions of both MBARI and MLML.
The MLML/MBARI Research Library collections focus on fisheries, marine birds and mammals, invertebrate zoology, oceanography, ecology, molecular biology, biogeochemistry, toxicology, marine geology, marine chemistry, and deep-sea biology. The library also holds resources in support of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering and scientific instrumentation. The combined collection includes over 2,500 print and electronic journals, 15+ research databases, and roughly 24,000 monographs, maps, and archival materials.
The MBARI Library was founded in 1996 as a private, non-profit library and merged with the MLML Library in 1999. This private-public partnership provides opportunities for collaboration and information synergy in the study of marine science and engineering. This library is a member of the International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Library and Information Centers.
MBARI and MLML affiliates can utilize library collections and spaces during open hours or with a keycard. Users can also access electronic library resources off-site. Please reach out to Librarian Katie Lage or the library’s main email address for assistance.
Non-affiliated researchers and the public are welcome to use the library by appointment. Find our use policies, location, and hours here.
