Central & Northern California Ocean Observing System (CeNCOOS) OverviewTeamLatest NewsData Established in 2004, CeNCOOS is one of 11 regional associations of the US Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS). Housed within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Ocean Service (NOS), IOOS represents coastal ocean observing interests for 17 federal agencies. We rely upon regionally and nationally as a trusted source of data, information, and regional ocean expertise.Focus Areas:Predicting weather and climate variability and changePreparedness and risk reduction for coastal communitiesHealth ecosystems and water qualitySafe and efficient transportation and commerceCore CapabilitiesFit-for-purpose data and information products: Adding value to observations and other data to inform decision-makingObservations: Utilizing high-frequency radars, shore stations and moorings, autonomous vehicles, animal telemetry, ships, imaging, ‘omics, and acoustics to span broad time and space domainsData integration and discovery: Delivering data and information, including data from other sources, per FAIR data principle enabling access, analysis, and synthesisModeling past, present, and future conditions: Assimilating observations into models for emergency response, dynamic management, and ecosystem analysis and forecastsScientific and technical expertise: Identifying and meeting the regional needs for ocean information, including through early adoption of new technology CeNCOOS.org Team Directory Henry Ruhl CENCOOS Director Director Fred Bahr CeNCOOS Product Developer Megan McKinzie ATN Data Manager Marine Lebrec CeNCOOS Technical Manager Amy West Synchro Program Manager Jason Adelaars Synchro Technical Manager Latest News All News News Researchers outline best practices for understanding life on the ocean’s vast seafloor News 06.06.23 News Special issue of Oceanography highlights the Marine Biodiversity Observation Network News 12.07.21 News Environmental DNA is an effective tool for calculating marine biodiversity News 07.29.21 CeNCOOS News Data All Data Data PortalObservations
